American Housing Survey
Released in October 2016, this iteration of the survey includes new, supplemental questions about the presence of arts and cultural opportunities in communities.

American Time Use Survey, Bureau of Labor Statistics
Survey data collected annually since 2003 shows how individuals spend their time on various activities, including activities related to arts and culture.

Consumer Expenditure Survey, Bureau of Labor Statistics
Data about how much American consumers spend on arts-related activities.

Institute of Museum and Library Services
Data about museums, libraries, and art-related organizations, as available.

Minnesota Department of Education Data Center
Comprehensive data sets specific to education in Minnesota schools. Select data sets, including the Minnesota Common Course Catalogue (MCCC), detail arts education data such as the number of visual and performing arts courses offered in Minnesota public schools for grades 9-12.

National Archive of Data on Arts and Culture
Data warehouse, coordinated through the University of Michigan, with over 200 publicly-available datasets on arts and culture.

Occupational Employment Statistics, Bureau of Labor Statistics
Information about wage and salary workers in nonfarm occupations, including artist related occupations as identified by the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS).

U.S. Census County Business Patterns
Produced annually and is used for studying economic activity of small areas. Businesses in small areas are classified into different industries, including arts and culture businesses, using the North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS). Find information on both number of establishments and employment.

Americans for the Arts
Data-rich reports, publications, fact sheets, and toolkits related to the economic impact of art, creative industry businesses and employment, and data used to develop national arts policies.

Americans for the Arts, Local Arts Index
Data profiles for states and local communities by county. Measures include the number of residents engaging in cultural participation, nonprofit programs and related arts expenditures per capita, solo artists and creative industries per capita, state arts grant success rates, and professional arts training.

Creative Minnesota
Snapshots, full reports, select city and county profiles, and links to more research. Resources are part of a long term, ongoing effort to study the arts and culture sector in Minnesota, fill the gaps in available information about Minnesota’s cultural field, and improve understanding of the creative sector's importance to Minnesota's quality of life and economy.

Data Arts (formerly Cultural Data Project)
Comprehensive data set compiled of detailed information from arts and culture organizations. Respondents complete a Cultural Data Profile (CDP) including an annual report, financial data including grant funding received, and total revenue and programmatic information such as who the organization serves and the type of programming provided.

Legacy Amendment Appropriations
Detailed data about the funding appropriated through the Art and Culture Heritage fund, including total funding amount, Minnesota counties and legislative districts served, and grant goals.

Minnesota Arts Education Index Data Center
Search tool with detailed data about Minnesota schools art education programs for all Minnesota schools that participated in the 2011 Minnesota Arts Education Survey Project. Each participating school received a School Arts Education Index Score summarizing the quality of their arts education programs.

National Assembly of States Arts Agencies, Legislative Appropriations Annual Survey
Interactive website with results from a survey that gathers information about revenue sources, trends over time, and per capita funding.
