Natural lands include wetlands, forests, and grasslands. About 15 percent of the land in our region is undeveloped, natural land that has a high-level of ecological significance. These high-quality lands play a critical role in supporting our ecosystem by providing habitat for game and other animals, supporting biological diversity, and improving ground water quality. It is important to protect these lands to preserve our region's beauty, native plant and animal species, and the health of our environment.
