Water quality

Our region's lakes are an important natural resource. Lakes support complex ecosystems, help absorb rainfall, and provide opportunities for recreational boating, swimming, and fishing. Poor lake water quality can result in conditions that are unsuitable for humans and uninhabitable for aquatic life. Primary sources of lake pollution include agricultural and industrial run-off, sewage, and fossil fuel combustion. It is important for lakes to meet basic water quality standards so we can preserve their use for future generations.
