From the U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey. Data available from 2005 to the present.

Housing and transportation index

From the Center for Neighborhood Technology, the housing and transportation index examines housing and transportation costs at a neighborhood level. It allows users to view housing and transportation data as maps, charts, and statistics.

Land use
The Metropolitan Council provides generalized land use data for the 7-county area and its political subdivisions approximately every five years. Statistical tables with land use categories available for cities, townships, counties and metro. An interactive (GIS) land use map is also available.

Means of transportation to work

Metro traffic map
Minnesota Department of Transportation traffic map showing current traffic conditions on major highways. Also find travel times and other traffic information.

Mileage and lane miles
Minnesota Department of Transportation annual report on highway miles and lane miles by county, city, metro division, etc.

Nonstop flight service
The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport reports airlines serve 135 nonstop markets.

Pavement condition
Minnesota Department of Transportation annual report on the condition of roadways. Reflects the condition and preservation of the roadway infrastructure.

Vehicle miles traveled
Minnesota Department of Transportation daily and annual report on vehicle miles traveled by county, city, metro division, etc.

Bridge inspection reports
Minnesota Department of Transportation Inspection reports for all Minnesota bridges, bridge lists and information on expenditures and plans for bridge maintenance and inspection.

Center for Transportation Studies
University of Minnesota Center's resources related to coordinating land use, transportation and accessibility. The Center's Access to Destinations Study provides data on the ability of Twin Cities residents to reach the destinations that they need to visit in order to meet their needs.

Metropolitan Council transportation library and links
Provides links to transportation studies, plans, services, fact sheets and reports.

Minnesota 3D Project (M3D)
Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) GIS (mapping) application incorporates labor market origin-destination data on Minnesota jobs and workers with other data. Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information System) needed.

Minnesota Department of Transportation, Office of Traffic, Safety and Operations
Provides a variety of transportation-related reports and resources.

National Transportation Statistics, Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA)
Statistics on the U.S. transportation system, including State Transportation Statistics, a statistical profile published annually since 2004.
