National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), State Profiles
Also called the “Nation’s Report Card” the NAEP is the only nationally representative and continuing annual assessment of America's students in various subject areas. Four of these subjects (mathematics, reading, science, and writing) are reported at the state level for grades 4 and 8. Since NAEP assessments are administered uniformly using the same sets of test booklets across the nation, NAEP results serve as a common metric for all states and selected urban districts.
