Washington County Parks

"By understanding the community demographics, we are better able to strategize our public engagement and assess community needs. This is important as we look to see who are underrepresented groups in park/trail visitation."

  1. Describe the work you do and how you use data in your work. I am Park and Trail Planner for Washington County.Sign at park promoting an online survey
  2. How have you used the Minnesota Compass resources in your work? I use the MN Compass website regularly in my work to quickly compile and share demographics for the east metro.
  3. How have you worked with the Minnesota Compass Build Your Own profile data tool?  When we are working on a master plan for a specific park or regional trail, I use the "Build Your Own Profile" tool to analyze the communities surrounding it (5, 10, 20 mile buffer tool). By understanding the community demographics, we are better able to strategize our public engagement and assess community needs. This is important as we look to see who are underrepresented groups in park/trail visitation - communities of color, seniors, ability status, low income.
